MAGNETIC MAGAZINE

“Magnetic delves deeper into the notions and politics of what modern music has become and what’s next. We are coming to you straight from the front lines with the latest on the exponentially growing progressive music culture. Whether it’s electronic, indie rock, hip hop, disco, neoclassical or something in between, Magnetic Magazine is the essential guide to navigate it all. The perfect junction between culture and music, diving into topics such as sustainability, travel, camping, and festival life.’’

I was tasked with selecting only four articles from their online blog and creating a magazine featuring those articles. The magazine also needed to include a few branded elements, such as slogans, their website handle, and some short text snippets. With a main demographic of 18- to 24-year-olds, I chose articles that featured relevant themes such as sustainability and young, up-and-coming artists with a decent online following. I designed a bold and colorful magazine that captures interest while keeping the text concise and easy to read, ensuring it doesn’t overwhelm the audience or lose their attention.

Two magazines titled 'Magnetic Magazine' with floral and artistic covers on a plain gray background. The magazine on the right features a woman with long blonde hair surrounded by flowers and insects.
Open magazine placed on a plain gray surface, showing a table of contents page on the left with dates and headlines in black, yellow, and white, and an article page titled "Who's These People?!" with black and white photo of a crowd with faces highlighted in orange on the right.
Open magazine with green and white pages, featuring a large green silhouette of a person's profile and bold green section headers.
Open magazine with a two-page spread; the left page has text and a photo of a woman in a colorful hat, while the right page features a vibrant poster for an event called 'Stella Here & Now' with a woman wearing jewelry and a knitted hat.
Open magazine with an article titled 'A Greener Future Showcases the World's Most Sustainable Festivals and Events for 2024'. The left page features a large photograph of a crowd at an outdoor festival during sunset, with trees silhouetted against the sky. The right page contains text discussing sustainable festivals and events for 2024.
Open magazine pages arranged on a gray surface, featuring a young woman with long blonde hair, surrounded by flowers, butterflies, and insects, with headlines and articles about magazine announcements and culture.
Open magazine with an article titled 'How To Be More Sustainable This Festival Season' on the left page and an illustration of a forest with tall pine trees and a crowd of people at a concert on the right page.
Open magazine featuring an article about a person named Steller announcing a debut headline, with a photograph of a young woman surrounded by colorful flowers, butterflies, and bees.
Open magazine with article about Chicago's Azzecaa debut with Cole Knight remix on the left page, and a woman in black top on the right page with a QR code below yellow text box.
Open magazine with pages showing event list and a photo of a concert stage with smoke and a crowd at night.

HORIZON GEAR

A self-produced brand created for a photography assignment, Horizon Gear is an outdoor brand designed for the everyday adventurer. The brand offers accessories, footwear for all types of journeys, and wind- and rain-resistant clothing.

The final advertising photographs were required to include a model and one of three background options: landscape, astrophotography, or architectural settings.

A man sitting on a fallen tree in a forest, tying his shoelaces, wearing outdoor gear including a gray jacket, orange beanie, and hiking shoes, with text promoting outdoor clothing
A man wearing a red beanie, black jacket, and athletic pants sitting on a rock in a forest, with trees in the background, likely preparing for outdoor activity.
A man sitting outdoors on a rock, wearing a bright orange beanie, gray sweater, and black outdoor gear. He is looking to the side, with trees and cloudy sky in the background. The image features the text "Built for the Journey" and the Horizon Gear logo.

Eye Candy.

A punny 10 second video assignment. I came up with a concept, references and rough sketches, created illustrations and animations. The result is eye candy: a monster living a peaceful life, lounging and snacking, just like we’re all guilty of doing.
